Malavika Mohanan faces the ire of TikTokers
Earlier this week, the Indian government had banned 59 Chinese apps with concerns over privacy and stolen information. Alongside some popular apps like CamScanner and WeChat was also the superhit app in our market, TikTok. The hugely popular short dance, lip-sync, comedy and talent videos sharing platform has left behind a generation of shocked users who are now at amiss as to how they’ll get their followers and platform back.
Actress Malavika Mohanan, whose popularity in K’town rose beginning with Rajini’s Petta and now playing a big role in the upcoming Vijay film Master, faced the backlash of her followers on Twitter when she replied to an innocuous tweet from user Srishti Jayin, who asked: “where are all the tiktokers going to now ?” Malavika’s jarring response was to ‘move to a lesser cringe app.’ Srishti took a poke and replied: “Apparently, the next tiktok is an app called ‘Chingari’ that has been founded by boys in a basement . Truly, low-key.”
Hopefully to a lesser cringe app
