Selvaraghavan lauds Jallikattu as India’s official entry at Oscars 2021

Jallikattu, winner of several awards at film festivals across the country, is now picked by the Film Federation of India as this year’s Oscar entry in the Best International Feature Film category. The film stars Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Santhy Balachandran, Sabumon Abdusamad and Jaffar Idukki. It is based on a short story by the writer S Hareesh titled Maoist. Lijo Jose expresses the general social issues of the films in a very subtle way through black comedy.

The Jallikkattu also talked about slaughtering cows for meat. The film was also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. It has been announced that the film will be sent to India for the 2020 Oscars. Malayalam fans are happy that a Malayalam film is being sent to the Oscars, which is considered to be the highest honorary award in the film industry.

Director Selvaraghavan applauded the decision to send Malayalam film Jallikattu as India’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 93rd Academy Awards. Selvaraghavan tweeted, “Watched and really loved #LijoJosePellissery@mrinvicible s film #Jallikattu very glad it has been selected as India’s official entry for the #Oscars I think we have a good chance with this beauty of a movie.”
