Actor Shanthanu who was last seen in “Vaanam Kottatum” is awaiting for the release of “Master”. Meanwhile the young actor will be sharing screen space with his multifaceted father K.Bhagyaraj in “Murungakkai Chips” which was launched in mid march this year. Since it was the time when the corona virus pandemic broke large in our state, progress of the project was stalled. Helmed by debutant director Srijar the film has Athulya Ravi in the lead and is bankrolled by Libra productions and first man film works, Dharan Kumar will be scoring the music and camera will be cranked by Ramesh Chakravathy. Murungaikkai Chips also stars Yogi Babu, Manobala, Anandraj, Mayilsamy, Rajendran, Reshma and Madhumita.

The film has leved up its expectation among audience with the first look and the title. For the unaware, Murungakkai (Drumstick) was projected to as an aphrodisiac vegetable in Bhagyaraj’s 1983 film Mundhanai Mudichu. Therefore, the fans began relating the film to contain a similar theme especially with its tagline ‘100% Tasty, 100% Naughty’ and many suggested that it will be an adult-comedy. However, Bhagyaraj has dismissed such things and told, “It is a breezy rom-com with enjoyable content, which will go down well with family audiences. The plot revolves around a couple and customs and ritual-based issues they face when they gear up for their first night. And the rest is all about how they overcome the issues.”

“It’s a fun-filled romantic comedy that’s about a couple and custom and tradition-based issues they face when they’re all set for their first night. Whether they are able to succeed forms the crux of the story. Shanthnu and Athulya Ravi play the couple and K Bhagyaraj sir will play Shanthnu’s grandfather. We’re trying to rope in a well known name to play the role of the grandmother. It will be a clean entertainer that will be suitable for everyone. We have completed the majority of the shooting before the lockdown commenced. Once we get the permission to shoot again, we’ll wrap it up in two weeks time,” says Srijar who had earlier assisted Bharathiraja. Dharan Kumar who made his debut in Bhagyaraj’s Parijatham and had earlier worked with Shanthnu in Siddu +2, is composing music for this film.

The first single “Edho Solla” was unveiled by director Atlee on his social media handle yesterday. The soulful melody is crooned by Sid Sriram and lyrics penned down by the producer Ravindhar Chandrasekaran.
