Theaters were closed as soon as the corona epidemic began in Tamil Nadu. Also, filming was stopped. As a result, the release of many films scheduled for release this year has been halted. Meanwhile, Jyothika’s ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ and Keerthi Suresh’s ‘Penguin’ were released on the OTT platform.

Earlier, the release of the film ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ was met with great opposition among the theater owners. But Surya, the producer of the film, did not back down from his decision and released the film on the OTT platform. This was the first-ever film released online.

Currently, Surya’s ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is ready for release. It was earlier reported that the film will also be released on the OTT platform as theaters are closed. But this was denied by the film crew. In this situation, there is strong opposition among the theater owners to release Surya’s film in theaters.

Panneer Selvam, secretary of the Theater Owners’ Association, told reporters that he had decided not to release films starring Surya and his family in theaters. Popular distributor Tirupur Subramaniam has said that the final decision on the release will be made after meeting the members of the Theater Owners Association. Theater owners are angry over Surya’s decision regarding the film ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’. However, he added that they will attend the meeting and make good decisions.
