Actor Gautam Karthik to play the lead in the sequel of family drama ‘Mayandi Kudumbathar’

The multi starrer ‘Mayandi Kudumbathar’s’  mazing outcomes which was released in 2009 has proved that there is a special place for rural dramas in Kollywood.  The urban thrillers and loves stories do enjoy successful runs, but with a rural drama the odds of commercial success is far higher. The family drama helmed by Rasu Maduravan had an ensemble cast of 10 Tamil film directors,  including Manivannan, Tarun Gopi, Ponvannan, Nanda Periyasamy, Seeman, KP Jagan, Ravi Maria and Singampuli. The film, scored by Sabesh-Murali and filmed by Balabharani, was released on 5 June 2009, scored at the box office.

The film is all set to have its sequel and the latest buzz is that young actor Gautham Karthik will play the lead in the rural drama. Nanda Periyasamy, who played a crucial role in the original will be helming the sequel. Gautham Karthik was last seen on big screens in ‘Devarattam’ which bombed at the box office, has ow been taking time to pick unique scripts and has been signing back to back films with promising directors and set to strike big. 

Meanwhile, Gautham Karthik recently signed for a film with director Ezhil, and the film is reported to be a commercial entertainer which also has actor Parthiban in a crucial role as a cop and debutant Sai Priya Devi as the female lead.
