Rakul Preet Singh to cut off her salary by 50 % to support the film producers

Due to sharp declines in financing and prolonged production timelines film producers across India grapple with low revenues and challenges of restarting production post the covid-19 lockdown they have put foward their request to necessitate reduction of the super inflated star costs.

As Tamil cinema got affected due to coronavirus lockdown from March 2020, putting off big-budget spectacles and anticipating 10-12% escalation in costs, the completion and releases of these three films were delayed by three months and by the time these films release, it may take another few months. Considering the loss that will be incurred by the producers of these three films and with a view to support them overcome from this situation, Vijay Antony is the first actor in Tamil to publicly announce that he will take a pay-cut to help the film industry beat the loses. Vijay Antony came forward a cut off 25% in remuneration which is estimated to be around Rs 1 crore for his upcoming three projects – Tamizharasan, Agni Siragugal and Khaki. Inspired by this several artists have decided to taking pay cuts to support the fall back of the producers. Followed by Vijay Antony, Harish Kalyan, Keerthy Suresh and director Hari and Ajay Gnanamuthu had also agreed cut -off a percentage in their salary.

But as cash flows dwindle, producers work on crunching timelines to deliver and to support this the Malayalam Film actors association had announced a 50 % reduction in their salary. Recently actress Rakul Preet Singh who predominantly works in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi film industry had announced that she will cut down her salary by 50 %. But however there is no official announcements from her counterparts.
