Ace PRO Nikhil Murugan turns actor in Vijay Sri G’s ‘Powder’

Nikhil Murugan, the leading PRO in the Tamil film Industry has been conferred as the best in the industry by the weekly magazine India Today. Nikhil Murugan is the public relations officer(PRO) for almost all the biggies in Kollywood including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan and also the media manager for actor Kamal Hassan for many years. The most sought after public relations man in the tinsel town is now making his debut as an actor in director Vijay Sri G’s ‘Powder’.

Vijay Sri G made his debut as a director with ‘Dada 87’ starring Charu Haasan, brother of the iconic actor Kamal Haasan. The director’s next outing in Tamil will be Powder. Starring Vidya Pradeep in the lead role, and the ensemble cast includes Manobala, Vaiyapuri and Adhavan. The first look poster showcases different kinds of ‘powder’ which includes detergent, talcum powder and washing powder and has an interesting caption, No makeup, no drug powder’. The film is expected to hit the screens for Pongal 2021. The latest update is that Nikhil Murugan will be playing a cop and the director says that it will be a role tinged with black humour.  Speaking about roping in the legendary PR, the director revealed, “I’ve been casting people who have been on the sidelines of cinema for some time. That’s how I cast actors like Charu Haasan and Janagaraj in my previous films. Nikil has been working as a PR for 25 years and is well-known in industry circles, though the public isn’t aware of him. So, I decided to cast him in this one,.”

“It is a full-length role and he plays a cop named Raghavan. Of course, he is named so as the character will register faster because it is Kamal sir’s character in Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu. Since he has been on film sets, he did not have trouble performing. But I asked him to hit the gym and get fitter as I didn’t want a cop with a paunch. He hit the gym and came back fit following the lockdown” says Vijay.
