Director Tarun Gopi found the powerful female lead for “Yaanai”

It has been reported that actress Varalakshmi Sarathkumar has joined the upcoming film ‘Yaanai’ directed by Tarun Gopi. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, who has at least six films in her kitty in different stages of production, has signed yet another movie.
Directed by Tarun Gopi his debut film in 2006 starring Vishal, Reema Sen, Shriya Reddy and Vadivelu, “Thimuru” was a box office success. Tarun then went on to direct “Kaala”with Simbu. The director later incarnated as an actor through the film “Maayandi Kudumbathar.”Currently Tarun Gopi is busy wrapping up sequel of “Thirmiru” which will have the director himself in the lead role opposite Kaadhal Sandhya.
The film maker is all set to kick star his net venture titled “Yaanai” and the director was looking for a powerful female lead and has now zeroed down with Varalakshmi Sarathkumar.
The film stars Antony, who played the lead in Lenin Bharathi’s award-winning Merku Thodarchi Malai, in the lead. “Varalaxmi will be playing the female lead. We are yet to sign her officially, but she has given us dates next month. I’ve also spoken to Ilaiyaraaja sir to compose music. We will get them on board officially next month,” he says, adding, “There are almost 41 character artistes in the film, including Marimuthu and Ilavarasu.”
The film will be produced by Aruth Film Factory Mannankadu Kumaresan, TarunGopi family and LS Prabhuraja. The film will be shot in Pattukottai, Pudukottai and Dindigul from October 26. Speaking about the film “Yaanai”, the director revealed, “When a girl gets married, she has to go to her in-laws’ place as a daughter. Similarly, when a guy gets married, he has to be like a son to his in-laws. Kalyanathukku apparam oru marumagala, marumaganave irundha sikkal dhaan,” says the director, “It’s a family drama, but there’s an action knot in it. Women have the strength of an elephant. Yaanai balam theriyama modhina enna aagum? We should not undermine the grit of women.”
