Finally makers of Vijay’s ‘Master’ has zeroed down a date for its massive release in theatres
Vijay’s ‘Master’ which was due for release in April but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and reports stated that the film’s streaming rights has been bagged by a popular OTT platform. ‘Master’ starring Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi has a star-studded lineup that includes, Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Nassar amongst others. Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music for the film, while Sathyan Sooryan has taken charge of the cinematography department.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the teaser has garnered over 40 million views on YouTube. The film is expected to release in 2021 on the eve of Pongal, and the release of the film on the OTT site has caused a stir among the fans. Dispelling rumours about an OTT release, the team confirmed that while a platform had indeed approached them, they are still keen on a theatrical release.
According to a press statement issued by XB Film Creators and Seven Screen Studio, the producers were indeed approached by an OTT platform. “Though we have an offer from a reputed OTT service provider, we prefer the theatrical release, which is the need of the hour for the industry to survive the ongoing crisis,” the statement said. However, the statement did not confirm the release date of the film, which is expected to be during January 2021, in time for the Pongal festival. It has also been reported that the crew plans to release the masterpiece on January 13 in theatres. Thus, Vijay fans are eagerly awaiting to watch the star on big screen on January 13th.
