Regina to play the kingpin of dark net in Vishal’s “Chakra”

Regina Cassandra is the main villain in Vishal’s upcoming film Chakra, which has Shraddha Srinath as the leading lady. While Vishal essays an army officer, Shraddha plays a cop. Directed by MS Anandan, the film features Vishal, Shraddha Srinath and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles. Srushti Dange, Manobala and Robo Shankar form the supporting cast.
Chakra’s technical crew comprises of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematographer Balasubramaniem. The film was supposed to hit the theatres on May 1 but the makers had postponed the release due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The makers wanted to keep Regina’s character under wraps as she reportedly plays the kingpin of the dark net. It is also revealed that Regina will have a power packed action sequence with Vishal in the climax. Chakra is a cyber-crime thriller that focusses on a mass robbery that happens in the city of Chennai on Independence Day. On Independence Day, nearly 49 houses are robbed by a group of hackers. The hackers steal the Ashoka Chakra medal at Vishal’s house, which pushes him to go on a hunt to nab them.
On work front, Regina has her long-pending Selvaraghavan film Nenjam Marappadhillai, in which she reportedly takes on a ghost avatar, Venkat Prabhu’s Party and Kallapart with Arvind Swamy, besides the recently signed film with Arun Vijay.
A few weeks back, it was heard that Vishal starrer film Chakra is going to skip its theatrical release and go for a direct OTT release on OTT platform Zee5. However, Trident Arts, a production house, has appealed to the court to restrain Chakra’s OTT release stating that Vishal owes them Rs 8 crore. Reportedly, Vishal had promised to bear the loss of his last movie, Action, which was produced by Trident Arts. The Madras High Court on Tuesday ordered notices returnable by Thursday to actor Vishal Krishna and director M. Anandan on a plea by production firm Trident Arts to restrain the release of the actor’s upcoming movie Chakra on Over the Top (OTT) platform. The judge who heard the case asked Vishal and producers at Trident Arts to sort out their differences amicably.
