Darshana KT is on cloud nine

Darshana KT, top playback singer known for her songs like Kaaraa Aaattakaara in O Kadhal Kanmani and Maduraikku Pogathedi from Azhagiya Tamizh Magan and who is based in Chicago, USA is on cloud nine. She has a reason to rejoice. Yes, the singer who just started her YouTube channel has been posting cover versions of several of AR Rahman, Ilayaraja and Anirudh popular numbers. Recently she uploaded the cover version video of AR Rahman’s O Aashiqa from 99 Songs, a film, which marked the debut writing and production of the Oscar winner.

Darshana sang the melodious number along with playing an instrument called Hang Drum. After watching her perform the song, the Mozart of Madras had lauded her. Not only that, the maestro has shared the video of Darshana on his twitter handle, which is a rare feat.

Says Darshana, “I recently came across a very interesting instrument called Hang Drum, which I got from Switzerland. It was around the same time when 99 songs were released. The Hang drum in itself has a unique sound and a very good vibe to it. I felt that the hang drum would complement the song really well and give it an earthy feel. And my joy was boundless when Rahman sir shared my version on his social media handle.
