“Kanni Maadam is adding to my pride” – Bose Venkat’s emotional statement on the success of his directional debut

Bose Venkat who proved his mettle as an actor for almost two decades has turned director with Kanni Maadam, and draws from his own past as an autorickshaw driver before becoming an actor. The film is bankrolled by Muhammed Hasheer under the banner Rooby Films and had music composed by Hari Sai.The film is said to define the essence of Madras. “How a 20-year-old girl runs away from her native village and comes to Chennai, her struggles and how she survives form the crux of the movie,” says Bose Venkat. 

The film features newbies Sriram and Gayathri in lead roles. Aadukalam Murugadoss, Gajaraj, Valeena Prince, Vishnu Ramasamy and Super Good Subramani are playing key roles. 

The critically acclaimed film has now received a prestigious honour as the film has been selected for Toronto Tamil Film Festival and the elated director shared issued a statement in this regard.Bose Venkat’s statement read, “Despite being acclaimed as an actor in various films, February 20 this year is the most memorable day of my life. That was the day my first attempt as a director, ‘Kanni Madam’ was released. Not only did many congratulate me on the phone that day, but many critically acclaimed the film. The appreciation the film received was unforgettable. No matter how many films aI directer later, the praise and appreciation for the first film is unique.

Yet the movie ‘Kanni Madam’ is adding to my pride. Yes, I am proud to share with you that it has won the award for “Best Film – Fans Choice” at the Toronto International Tamil Film Festival. With such awards it is truly motivating for directors.
