Mathangi Sings Alongside Legends

Mathangi Ajith Kumar began her singing career at the early age of 7. Amongst her early gigs was a chance to sing alongside the late iconic music composer MS Viswanathan. Now, she has bagged the honor of a fourth-generation singer who has rendered a duet with Padma Vibhushan award winner KJ Yesudas for a yet to release Tamil film.

Speaking to TTN Cinema, an excited Mathangi says, “I have brought out independent music albums and sung on several stage shows. Watching me in one of my shows, director Ravi Menon sir offered me the first song in a Tamil film Kadhuvu En Ezhu Ganeshapuram directed by PR Krishna and I was lucky enough to croon the melody Pani Thuliyaai Kanavil Vandhu alongside of Vijay Yesudas.”

Giving credit to Ravi Menon, she then says in her excitement: “after finishing singing in six Tamil movies and two Malayalam films, what followed was something astonishing. Yes, once again, Ravi sir brought me on board to sing a song with none other than legendary singer KJ Yesudas sir. It is a romantic number Nee Paarkum Nodigal Ellam in Devadas’ lyrics for an upcoming K’town film produced by Iqbal.”
Mathangi says that she is truly blessed to sing with the ace octogenarian at this young age. “Sir blessed me and said that I have a good voice and a great future. I was over the moon.”
