Vijay- Vetrimaaran next titled “Marutheeran”?

Recently, there were reports about Vetrimaaran planning to do a film with Vijay. Both fans and cinephiles were highly excited as the collaboration sounded exciting. However, there were no further updates and it was dismissed as just another rumour. But Vetrimaaran has now confirmed that he is indeed planning to work with Vijay.But the filmmaker whose last release was the Tamil rural revenge drama, Asuran, has confirmed that he is working on a script for actor Vijay. He said that he’s waiting for a call from the actor to initiate the project.

In his latest interview to Tamil magazine Vikatan, Vetrimaaran has opened up about his project with Vijay. “I’m working on a script for Vijay. Whenever I get the call from him, I will pitch it and take it forward,” the filmmaker said. If reports are to be believed, Vetrimaaran will supposedly start filming the project once the duo is done with their respective projects.Now a fan made poster has set the internet ablaze which says, the duo’s maiden film has been titled as “Marutheeran” with music composed by G.V.Prakash and bankrolled by S.Thaanu under the banner of V.Creations. However there is no official announcement for the same. 

The director will next be helming a film with Soori essaying the lead role. Backed by Elred Kumar under the banner RS Infotainment, the makers have kept the film’s shoot on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. Vetrimaaran will also be directing Suriya’s project titled Vadivasal which is based on the the bull-taming festival, Jallikattu. Vijay, on the other hand, is currently awaiting the release of his film with Lokesh Kanagaraj. Titled Master, the film has Vijay Sethupathi as the main antagonist, while Andrea Jeremiah and Malavika Mohanan will be seen as the leading ladies. Post which, Vijay will be seen in the upcoming film with AR Murugadoss followed by Vetremaaran’s collaboration.
