Parthiban’s pathbreaking movie bagged three awards at the Toronto Tamil International Film Festival

Long before the term “experimental films” became famous, actor, writer and directorParthiban had begun making movies that were out-of-the-box like Ulle Veliye, Housefull and Kudaikul Mazhai.  Radhakrishnan Parthiban’s audacious experimental one-man show Otha Seruppu Size 7 has been critically acclaimed and wishes have been  in from all quarters. Parthiban for taking the road nobody has travelled before managed to emerge as a winner and the movie has been a recipient of several prestigious awards. After Oththa Seruppu Size 7 had entered the Asia book of records and India book of records for being the first-ever solo act project made by a director, the movie has also bagged three awards at the Toronto film festival: Jury Award for Best Feature Film, Jury Award Best Feature Film Director and Best Solo Act Award.

Speaking about the success, the elated actor-director Parthiban said, “The quality of the cinema depends on the tang of the audience and there is no alternative for the same. I will never forget the audience to have accepted by daring effort in this movie. I am happy. I have won three awards for this film at the Toronto Tamil International Film Festival. I would like to thank all the technicians who worked on the film. ”

Oththa Seruppu Size 7, a pathbreaking Tamil film, which dares to be different is a thriller featuring. What makes it unique is that throughout the film there is only one face shown on screen – that of the protagonist’s and the milieu is a police station. Still, the narration grips you. And what is fascinating is that the hero interacts with multiple characters who are never seen on the screen but given life through voice-overs that are pitch perfect. The background score was composed by C Sathya. The film features only one song, called ‘Kulirudha Pulla’, composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The film was produced by Parthiban under the banner of Bioscope Film Framers. For those fed on a staple diet of commercial entertainers, the pacing could make it a difficult watch, though the run time is only 105 minutes.
