Venkat Prabhu and STR collaborate on a fresh project

Venkat Prabhu who is gearing up with his acting venture Lock Up in Charles’ direction after a gap of 12 years gives interesting updates on his directorial Maanaadu with Silambarasan.

Talking to TTN Cinema, Venkat Prabhu says, “Maanaadu is a massive project made at a very big budget by Suresh Kamatchi. We completed two schedules earlier before the COVID-19 crisis and the subsequent lockdown. Since it is a political thriller, each and every scene requires an ensemble star cast and a hundreds of junior artistes. In the present scenario, it is difficult to ensure safety to all of them. Even if government permits, we heard that only less than 100 people could work on the sets of any film. And we are waiting for the right time to start shooting adhering to safety measures.”

The team has also recorded a song in Madhan Karky’s lyrics and composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Kalyani Priyadarshan will be seen romancing Simbu in Maanadu. The movie also features SJ Suryah, Bharathiraja, SA Chandrashekar, Udhaya among others.

Meanwhile, the trio of STR, VP and Suresh Kamatchi is toying with the idea of collaborating for a fresh project with a medium budget. Suresh tells TTN Cinema, “Yes, this is a new project with a medium budget, which we want to finish before Maanaadu. It is a thriller and Venkat Prabhu has completed the script and given his nod to take the remuneration once the business of the film is done. Simbu has also agreed in principle and I am hoping to finalize the deal soon.”
