Indian 2 is back on the radar

After the disaster that took place in EVP in February during the shoot of Indian 2 where three men were crushed by a crane, there’s finally some good news and perhaps homage to the personnel who had lost their lives in the making of this film. With the advent of COVID-19, rumors were adrift that this project might be shelved permanently. But the latest update is that the Shankar directed and Ulaganayagan starrer flick in still on and may resume in 2021.

Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 film with the same name and it has a wide array of household names in the cast including Kamal, Nedumudi Venu, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani and Thambi Ramaiah. Touted to be a political thriller, there’s vast scope for the actor-turned-politician to instill his political ideas in the film and let the public digest the messages.
Given the grandeur of the project, it’s going to be hard to get back some of the marquee names back in. Word on the street has it that Kamal and the makers Lyca Productions have tentatively decided to restart the film early next year, perhaps as soon as March 2021.

Kamal is keen the finish Thalaivan Irukkindraan and is working on the script. There’s also been an official announcement of his collaboration with AR Rahman for TI. In a recent interaction, the Oscar winner revealed that he has composed and recorded a song for the film. A few more names including Vijay Sethupathi, Andrea, Pooja Kumar, and even the dormant Vadivelu have been roped in for crucial roles. With the lockdown in place, Kamal needs to hurry it up and complete TI before the April 2021 state elections.
